Saint Croix Anno 1799

Guide on how to use the map of Saint Croix
When using the map, there are several features you can use to better explore the map.

The first feature is the zoom function, which you can use to zoom in and out on the map, using your computer mouse or the two buttons in the top left corner.

The next feature is the map layer feature: This feature allows you to switch layers on the map if you would rather see a satellite map or a regular map. You can switch the historical map from 1799 on and off by clicking in the top right corner on the figure that looks like a stack of paper.

The next function is the measurement function, added because it can be useful to find out how big a plantation really was. You start by tapping on the golden star.
Then, on the right side of the screen, you will find the box that activates the measurement tool by pressing Aktiver Måleværktøj.

When you tap: Aktiver Måleværktøj, on the left side of the map there will be two measurement functions and an edit function and a trash can that deletes the lines on the map.

However, if you press the button, Aktiver Koordinat Vælger, you will be able to find coordinates on the map. Just press the mouse once, and the map will show a small box with the coordinates.

To disable both functions, you need to go to the same box with the star on it, where you then have the option to deactivate the functions. The functions will then disappear and stop responding.

The next feature is the search function, which you can find by clicking on the magnifying glass just below the map.

Pressing it opens an expanded field where you can search for names. All the markers on the map will change colour, from orange to blue. If there is a cadastral list containing the name/search term.

The search function will not only search in the transcribed files, but also inside the code, in the Name, Neighbourhood and Plantationowner. These are the different pieces of information you can read in advance about a plantation by simply clicking on a point without reading the transcribed file.

The search word/term will be highlighted in yellow in the transcribed text to make it easier to find.

When you press the view full screen button under an image, you will see the image in full screen and the image will contain a number of different functions.

There will be a zoom function, a rotation function, a function to drag the image around, which you can turn off if necessary. Then there's a function to increase the brightness and dim it, and the last function is one that ends the full screen function and returns you to the map.
The very last function is inside the transcribed file, where there is a red box in the top right corner that allows you to exit the transcribed file.
